Love Songs

Exhibition dates: August 6–September 17, 2021

An exhibition of drawings and paintings of Sam and Geena by Geena and Sam. The title is taken from the Paul McCartney and Wings song of the same name with the lyrics: “Some people want to fill the world with silly love songs”. This exhibition, held on our second floor is a visual record of the relationship between the two artists, who are also both former artists in residence at Main Street Arts.

Sam Fratto

"My work often reflects what is around me with a varying degree of replication. More importantly, when working I am in constant dialogue with the piece at hand to figure out what it is trying to represent in its most honest form."

Sam Fratto is an Ithaca based artist that paints and animates. At the Academy of Art University Sam received his BFA in traditional animation.

Geena Massaro

"My work varies in form and medium. Ultimately, though in different manifestations, all of my work is a diaristic response to my life."

Geena Massaro grew up in Palmyra NY but now lives in Ithaca NY. Geena attended Pratt MWP in Utica NY as well as the better known Pratt Institute in Brooklyn NY where she received her BFA in painting and drawing.

Listen to Sam and Geena's extensive studio playlist on Spotify! The playlist also serves as the soundtrack when viewing the exhibition in person.

Both Sam and Geena have written guest blog posts reflecting on their time spent at Main street Arts and the time since then, spending time together. Read their posts at mainstreetartscs.org/blog
